AOD Cleaning up 10-20-2012

One man with a single drive to improve the community has set out to do more for Altus than the entire AOD group combined. Bruce Morey is cutting through dirt, grass, and anything else that stands in his way! For the last few weeks while the AOD has been struggling to get back in action, Bruce Morey has been hitting the sidewalks, roads, ditches, and everything else as well. Special thanks to Bruce for giving the group a much needed boost to come out this Saturday (and last).

Take Action - Sept. 22

With the the regular group of Altus Oklahoma Discussions members off in different directions this weekend, Bruce Morley and Cindy Powell picked up the torch and took over where we left off! They did a lot of work for just two people! James Molledahl stopped by to drop off some bottle water. If you see these people this week, be sure and thank them for giving up a piece of their weekend to keep this project going. I felt re-energized by their efforts and I'm ready to get back out there this coming weekend. I hope the rest of you are as well. It's so great to see people pulling together!

Take Action! Saturday the 1st!

Once again the stalwart group at Altus Oklahoma Discussions attempts to reclaim South Main. Join us on Saturday the 1st at 7AM near Dan's Heat and Air as we push further south cleaning the curbs, sidewalks, and trash from the street! Jamey Bitz has even mentioned possibly cooking everyone some breakfast! Come join us!

Cleanup at 1414 E Cypress

The August 21st meeting of the Altus City Council included a discussion concerning a property located at 1414 East Cypress. The property was called a “public nuisance” and was deemed to be in violation of Altus City Code. Comparing this property to others in much more visible areas brings up the question of "Why this property and not others?" But, thanks to the coordination between several caring citizens and two very generous business owners, this property got some much needed time and attention on Saturday, September 8th.

AOD Cleaning up 8-18-2012

Altus Oklahoma Discussions had an excellent turnout this weekend. We managed to make a mess, find some sidewalks, and work our way a bit further to our goal. AOD plans to liberate South Main Street and a special and heartfelt THANK YOU to the men and women from Altus Air Force Base.

Dan Scott donated some equipment to help the group and passed out some much needed water so everyone could cool down. Just a reminder that Brandon Holloway donated the cases of water. Rick Henry and Chad Osborne also stopped by to say hello and thank you for the group effort.

The big surprise was the turnout by the Altus Air Force Base men and women to help with our efforts in cleaning up Altus, Oklahoma. From the Airman Leadership class on AAFB are hearty thank you Darius Aadersa, Chris Arnold, Jamey Broussard, Taylor Buchea, Ben Gibbs-Churchley, Dora Garcia, Quintin Haynes, Brittany Johnson, Ben Kent, Kelly Nelson, Charles Norris, Remington Rendon, Sarah Rudd, Jeremy Spears, Kyle Williams and Chris Woodard. Hopefully no one was left out.
